California Teachers Race Ahead to Put Students in the 'Green Economy' Pipeline

Green Pathways to the Future is a new teacher training institute that will be offered as part of the 2010 Green California Schools Summit, sponsored by Green Technology.The institute will help educators envision a future where students could become part of a 'green economy' that could be worth roughly $3 trillion, according to the United Nations Environment Programme. This workshop will help teachers contemplate what a green economy will look like and consider the skills, dispositions and competencies students will need to compete in it. Educators will be provided hands-on curriculum resources that make it easy to translate those issues into standards-based instruction, and they will hear about the green economy straight from the source--the businesses and industries that are building it.
