Connecticut
Common Ground High School in New Haven, CT, was one of the first green charter schools in the United States and remains a unique green charter secondary school. It also is a small college preparatory school with a focus on the urban environment in preparing students to become the next generation of environmental leaders. Learning at Common Ground is rooted in the local community and environment. Students and teachers use three sites as laboratories for learning:
- City of New Haven parks, people and many eco-resources,
- West Rock Park (Connecticut’s largest state park where the school is located)
- Common Ground’s campus (an environmental learning center and research farm)
